Noun/ Adjective + です(desu) ・・・Declaring something

・男の子です。 (Otokonoko desu) - is a boy.

As you see in the sentence above, it doesn't have to always be put subeject in a sentence. The form will be changing depends on how formal it should be. です is sort of polite form and being able to be used in any situation. 

exp)

・猫です。 (neko desu) - is a cat. 

・嬉しいです。 (ureshii desu) - am happy.
